Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days is the spin-off light novel based on the highly successful anime. Its first volume was released under the Dengeki Bunko imprint on September 9, 2022. The official Dengeki Bunko website describes the novel as “a modest story depicting the everyday extraordinariness of Café LycoReco!”. It goes on further to describe the plot as centering on the adventures of Chisato, Takina, and the rest of the café staff that weren’t depicted in the anime Ordinary Days essentially puts forward the original descriptions of the plot prior to the anime’s run, which included the girls doing tasks such as delivering sweets to the yakuza, assisting at Japanese language schools, and doing missions like dealing with zombies and fighting off monsters. All that is on top of their basic duties to serve coffee and other café treats. Interested readers don’t have to worry about spoilers or missing key anime info for the most part. They can dive into Ordinary Days without any problems considering it doesn’t necessarily go by the anime’s timeline. Where to Read Lycoris Recoil’s Manga and Ordinary Days Novel
There currently is no way to legally read the Lycoris Recoil manga, and there is no news about official translations yet. As for Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days, the first volume can be ordered via various sources online, although it will be in Japanese for the time being. The light novel had made great pre-order sales enough that the second round of reprints was made prior to its September 9 release. Fans outside Japan and non-Japanese-reading audiences will have to settle with the existing anime series for now. Although, given Lycoris Recoil’s success and popularity, we might hear about the manga and the novel being made available for international fans sooner or later.
