The outlet reported that Delany attempted to crack a joke, admitting that he just recently joined the Game of Thrones bandwagon. Shortly after that, he gave a short reaction to one of the episodes he saw and described Emilia Clarke as a “short, dumpy girl”. He reportedly said: “I was like, ‘What’s this show with the short, dumpy girl walking into the fire?’“In a follow-up by Vanity Fair, it was reported that Delany’s comments shocked audiences with some of them responding with gasps and understandably so. A network representative issued a statement addressing Delany’s inappropriate remarks and embarrassingly, it looks like Foxtel is trying its best to cover up their CEO’s blunder. The statement reads: “The aim was to convey that for him, Games of Thrones was something very different for television in 2011 and that Emilia Clarke went from relatively unknown to one of the most recognized and most-loved actors in television and film.
