While it’s just over a minute long, the trailer did show off new footage that gives fans a taste of what to expect for the next season. Some of the scenes in this trailer have not been shared yet in previous previews for the series. To Your Eternity is an anime series that’s based on the manga of the same name by Yoshitoki Oima, the author of the critically acclaimed manga, A Silent Voice. To Your Eternity is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The series’ story follows a boy wandering the Arctic region. There, he meets a wolf and the two become dependent on one another to survive.
Soon, it turns out that the wolf is no ordinary animal as it’s actually an immortal creature from outside Earth. Unlike other fantasy anime, To Your Eternity’s premise is unique as it follows an immortal main character, meaning its story takes place over a long period of time. The series has received critical acclaim. In addition to praise from numerous critics and fans, the manga also won the 43rd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2019 in the shonen category.
The anime series’ first season was made by Brains Base and aired from April 12 to August 30, 2021. Its release schedule was a bit different given that it has an unusual 20-episode count. For the second season, studio Drive replaces Brains Base from the first season. This upcoming season is directed by Kiyoko Sayama. As for its cast, the show features Reiji Kawashima as Fushi, Taku Yashiro as Gugu, Rie Hikisaka as March, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Kansatsusha. Along with the new trailer, it was confirmed that the next season of the anime will continue to use Hikaru Utada’s song, PINK BLOOD, as its opening theme song. To Your Eternity Season 2 will release on October 23, 2022. It will premiere on NHK Educational in Japan and internationally on Crunchyroll.
