Speaking with Time Magazine, the showrunner of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, J.D. Payne, already announced a character that would appear in the second season of the series given its multi-season format and being set as a prequel.
J.D. Payne announced, “We don’t want to give too much away, but one character we’re excited for folks to meet in Season 2 is Círdan the Shipwright. In the time of our story, he’s the oldest of all known elves in Middle-earth—in fact he lived so long, he had a beard.”

Círdan the Shipwright is the only elf in Tolkien’s work to have a beard and has been mentioned a lot of times in the books. He is the master of the Grey Havens, something fans of the book series would be familiar with, a place where those from Valinor depart from.
Since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set in the Second Age, around that time, Círdan have already attained the status of being the oldest of all Elves in Middle-Earth with his mind being his biggest asset and he also participated in the War of the Last Alliance.
Círdan fought on the side of Gil-galad and after Sauron’s body was destroyed, Círdan and Elrond are the Elves who did their best to convince Isildur that the One Ring must be destroyed.
