The Ending of Netflix’s The Midnight Club Explained
From eight terminally ill patients, The Midnight Club were down to six after the death of Anya as she succumbs to her battle with cancer and drug abuse and the release of Sandra after she was misdiagnosed and that she isn’t terminally ill anymore. Ilonka found out that Shasta, who turns out to be Julia Jayne, is just using her to get access to the basement of Brightcliffe and perform the ritual once more. Dr. Stanton got to Ilonka on time to prevent her from drinking the potion which turned out to be poison, killing the other three “sisters.” Well, Ilonka thought of going home but after meeting Rhett, the best friend of Anya, and seeing that the ballerina figurine of Anya was miraculously fixed, she decided to fill out her pre-need with her foster father, Tim.

Meanwhile, Kevin broke up with his girlfriend, Katherine, to give her a chance in finding love with someone who isn’t terminally ill and for Kevin to truly pursue the one he likes, Ilonka. The finale of The Midnight Club also brought the conclusion of the stories told by Kevin about Dusty finally becoming the serial killer and not getting the girl, and by Ilonka which is finished by everyone at The Midnight Club as she couldn’t put in the words on how it ends especially after Anya’s death. The big reveal is Dr. Georgina Stanton who turns out to be bald and she hides underneath her wig the tattoo of the symbol of the Paragon on her nape, which hints that she is Athena, daughter of Regina Ballard, a.k.a. Aceso. The finale is enough to tease everyone with a second season and while there is no confirmation yet about it, it left so many questions to be answered. First is who Dr. Georgina Stanton is and what is, really, her purpose with Brightcliffe. She’s too mysterious and not much has been known about her other than the big reveal in the end. Second is whether Anya really connected to them by making the ballerina figurine whole again. Third is the huge question on what the visions of Ilonka and Kevin are with the old woman who was always hungry and the old man which leads Kevin to the basement. Their stories weren’t even clarified at all so why were they appearing in a place where young kids die? Netflix, it’s your call to get The Midnight Club a second season to answer all these. The Midnight Club is now streaming on Netflix.
