To give some of you a refresher, the Jurassic World franchise director was the original choice to helm the Skywalker Saga’s finale but dissatisfaction on Lucasfilm’s end in terms of the film’s script, titled Star Wars: Duel of the Fates ultimately led to Trevorrow being replaced by J.J. Abrams who directed The Force Awakens.Now, Trevorrow is opening up about the possibility of him directing a proper Star Wars project down the line. Speaking with Comicbook.com, he said the following: “I don’t know. Not because of Star Wars, but because I feel like I spent 8 or 9 years making new versions of the things we love when we were kids… in one place or another.” He continued: “There’s a lot of pressure on that. It casts a shadow over everything else that you want to do. In the case of making a small film after Jurassic World, I was the ‘Director of Star Wars’ when I made it. I think that… to be able to step out of that a little bit and not have everything I do be in the context of our belief systems is interesting to me.“Also Read: Disney Reportedly Erasing Rey Skywalker from Star Wars CanonJudging by Trevorrow’s statement, it seems like he’s gotten cold feet about returning to the franchise which is pretty understandable, especially taking into consideration how Lucasfilm didn’t give his idea a shot. Still, you can never say never in Hollywood and while a Star Wars project may not be in his immediate future, the production company could end up bringing him back down the line.That said, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
