Well, it turns out that putting the show together was a huge financial gamble for Feige and company, and getting the theme song alone may have cost the studio a hefty amount of money. According to X-Men: The Animated Series developer Eric Lewald (via ComicBook.com), it wasn’t easy obtaining the rights to the iconic tune which has now been used twice in the MCU.Speaking at Pennsylvania’s Steel City convention, Lewald explained: “[The X-Men: The Animated Series theme song] wasn’t a done deal necessarily when they were producing the new show. The rights were all over the place. I think a secondary person had the rights to the music, so it was a negotiation for them. Obviously, you can’t do the new show without that song.
