People were understandably hyped up when it was announced that Chainsaw Man is getting an anime adaptation. After all, it was soon confirmed that the new series would be produced by MAPPA who has been responsible for Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Jujutsu Kaisen. Not surprisingly, the studio firmly believes in the potential of the adaptation and Manabu Otsuka made this clear just now.
The MAPPA CEO recently spoke to Crunchyroll where he was asked what people can expect when Chainsaw Man is finally released. Interestingly, Otsuka pointed out that the anime will change things for everyone, including the animation studio.
“MAPPA has been around for eleven years now. I’ve worked on many, many titles over those years. But I really believe that Chainsaw Man is going to be a new chapter for MAPPA,” Otsuka said. He then admitted that he is relying on the staff to make the series truly special.
“I want the team to put in their all to make this something that is going to give it a new sort of setup for the company,” Otsuka said.
It’s an interesting statement considering that MAPPA had put together a strong team to work on Chainsaw Man. The anime will be directed by Ryu Nakayama while Makoto Nakazono will serve as the chief episode director. Hiroshi Seko is writing the scripts and character designs are by Kazutaka Sugiyama and the devil designs are by Kiyotaka Oshiyama.
Tatsuya Yoshihara will serve as the action director while Yusuke Takeda is directing the art. Naomi Nakano serves as the color key artist, Yohei Miyahara is designing the screens and the music is composed by Kensuke Ushio.
Chainsaw Man has not yet been given an official release date. However, the new trailer and cast announcement will be released on August 5, 2022.
