During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Thompson admitted to never rewatching Love Actually for it reminds her of awful things in the past, such as being underpaid.

“No! It was 20 years ago. You just think… I don’t think I was very well paid for that and there was that terrible trailer with the loo that really stank. These are the things that you remember,” she confessed.

Whether the Nanny McPhee star was joking or not, she’s not the only one from the cast who has opened up about their true feelings for the romantic Christmas movie.

Earlier this month, Hugh Grant revealed he hated one of the most sweet scenes in the movie, where his character dances when a radio station plays “Jump” by The Pointer Sisters in his honor.

He narrated, “I saw it in the script and I thought, ‘Well, I’ll hate doing that. I didn’t fancy doing the dance at all, let alone rehearsing it… And to this day, there’s many people, and I agree with them, who think it’s the most excruciating scene ever committed to celluloid. But then some people like it,”

Due to Love Actually’s massive success, fans have been longing for a reboot or sequel. Director Richard Curtis revealed that he has previously toyed with the idea, but he feels he would have a much sadder approach to the idea of love this time around, something that he believes wouldn’t be as great as the first installment.

Given the director and cast’s discouraging sentiments, Love Actually 2 is not visible for the time being, although no one knows the exact future, so fans can only hope.

For now, despite the actor’s real feelings about rewatching the Christmas film, the fans are still welcome to embrace Love Actually for many years to come.

Released in 2003 and directed by Curtis, Love Actually follows nine interconnected storylines that each focus on familial, romantic, and platonic relationships as Christmas approaches. Alongside Thompson and Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Andrew Lincoln, and Martin Freeman are among the film’s ensemble.
